The New England Patriots have been much improved in 2025 compared to their disappointing 2024 result.

After finishing with just four wins a year ago, the Patriots already have four wins in 2025, and it is only Week 7. Much of the turnaround can be attributed to new head coach Mike Vrabel and the continued development of quarterback Drake Maye.

Maye showed flashes last year, but the quarterback’s supporting cast left much to be desired. This offseason, the Patriots made a concentrated effort to improve the pass-catchers and offensive line, and it’s paying off in a big way.

Through six games, Maye has thrown for 1,522 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. The quarterback has also rushed for138 yards and two scores while completing 73.2% of his passes.

One of those taking notice of Maye is Hall of Famer Ty Law. Law starred for the Patriots 1995-04 and won three Super Bowls with the team. On Tuesday, Law appeared on The Greg Hill Show and spoke glowingly of Maye, comparing him to the great Tom Brady.

“He’s finding ways to get everybody involved,” Law said. “You know what I mean? That’s the thing that I’m most impressed about. Not only his patience and how he’s handling himself in situations, he’s spreading the ball around again. It brings us back to Tom Brady.

“As far as not having that premier wide receiver. He’s finding ways to win. So whoever’s open, (Maye’s) going to get you the ball. He’s making the right decisions, the right plays and that’s what you need as a quarterback.”

As Law mentioned, Maye’s patience and decision-making has been impressive this year. Also, like Brady, Maye has been great at spreading the ball around and not just locking in on one target. Six different pass-catchers already have 100+ yards for the Patriots in 2025, with Stefon Diggs leading the way with 387.

Maye and the Patriots’ next test comes in Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans.
