The New England Patriots are hoping to take a step forward in 2025, and their rookie class is going to play a big role in whether or not they are ultimately able to accomplish that goal. The good news is that early on at training camp, the Patriots’ rookies have looked strong.
All eyes have been on left tackle Will Campbell after he was selected with the No. 4 overall pick, and he has held up well so far. However, he may not even be the most impressive rookie offensive lineman on the team.
That honor may belong to third-round center Jared Wilson. After he got shouted out by second-year o-lineman Caedan Wallace last week, Patriots insider Phil Perry explained why he believes Wilson has been the best offensive lineman on the team.
“Maybe the most impressive offensive lineman on the roster,” Perry said on “Next Pats Podcast.” “He had the most impressive series of 1-on-1 reps I have seen … 2 decisive wins over Christian Barmore and another decisive win over Milton Williams.”
A two-year starter for the Georgia Bulldogs, Wilson’s versatility and ability to hold up against both the run and the pass made him an ideal target for New England in the draft. Sure enough, he’s proving himself to be worth the investment early at training camp.
Whether or not Wilson starts right out of the gate remains to be seen, but he’s playing quite well to begin training camp. If he can keep it up, head coach Mike Vrabel and company may have no choice but to turn to him as a starter right out of the gate in Week 1.
