The New England Patriots are gearing up to take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 7, and this matchup will be a homecoming of sorts for a couple of folks. Mike Vrabel obviously will be returning to face off against his former team, but this game also may be a bit more important for star linebacker Harold Landry III.

Prior to signing a three-year, $43.5 million contract with the Patriots in free agency, Landry had spent the first seven years of his career with the Titans. In six games with New England so far, Landry has been one of the team’s best defenders, racking up 24 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one pass deflection to this point.

In the team’s Week 6 win over the New Orleans Saints, Landry suffered an ankle injury that did not look good, but he ended up managing to return to the game. However, after missing practice on Wednesday, Landry was also unable to suit up again on Thursday, throwing his status for Week 7 up in the air.

Being without Landry would be a very big blow, as he’s been the Patriots’ most productive pass rusher so far this season. He has one more practice to get himself back on the field, but things aren’t looking good for him right now.

Elsewhere on the injury report, cornerback Charles Woods also didn’t practice due to a knee injury. As for good news, Jaylinn Hawkins and Anfernee Jennings both logged limited practices after being held out on Wednesday.

Stefon Diggs remained limited for the second straight day due to a chest injury, which is an important situation to monitor ahead of Friday’s practice. Christian Gonzalez and Keion White both practiced fully again, while Christian Barmore also logged a full practice after being limited on Wednesday.

With Sunday quickly approaching, time is running out for several of these players to avoid having injury designations heading into this game. The team is surely hoping Landry can practice on Friday, because if he can’t, chances are he won’t get to face off against his former team.
