The New England Patriots can’t seem to catch a break this week…
New England, just one day after having linebacker Mark Robinson poached off their practice squad by the New York Jets, saw the same thing happen with offensive lineman Thayer Munford Jr. and the Cleveland Browns.
Munford, 26, originally signed with the practice squad after roster cutdown day, when he was released by the Las Vegas Raiders. Demontrey Jacobs and Cole Strange, who spent training camp at One Patriot Place, moved on after they were cut and signed with the Arizona Cardinals and Browns, respectively.
The Patriots now have multiple open spots on their practice squad, which could be filled by some of the tryout players they brought in Tuesday — wide receivers Brenden Rice and Rakim Jarrett, tight end Drake Dabney and offensive lineman Aiden Williams.
New England also has space available on the active roster, though the expectation is that it could be filled by linebacker Jahlani Tavai, who has been designated to return from injured reserve.
