The Patriots could soon be making another change along the offensive line, though this one is actually a positive.
“Cole Strange will return to practice today, which is exciting,” Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo announced on Wednesday. “It’s not just about him getting back out there, but understanding the journey he has taken to even get to this point… It takes time going through rehab and all those things. It’s been a long time for Cole, but again we’re excited to have him out there.”
Strange has yet to appear in a game this season, spending the last few months on the physically unable-to-perform list after suffering a torn patellar tendon last December. New England has taken it slow with the 26-year-old, and will continue to work at his pace.
“We just gotta take it day-by-day,” Mayo said. “It’ll be his first time out there, so we’re just going to take it one day at a time.”
The Patriots have three weeks to officially activate him, meaning the latest he could possibly return would be against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15. If he’s not ready at that point, New England would then revert him to injured reserve and lose him for the season.
