New England Patriots fans are continuing to monitor the status of Washington Commanders Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers provided a massive update on one of their wideouts on Tuesday that could greatly impact the chances of the Patriots’ potential pursuit of the pass-catcher. San Francisco opened its training camp on Tuesday.

Niners general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan both discussed the situation surrounding wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who has reportedly been unhappy with his current contract. The 28-year-old is slated to earn $7.5 million in 2025, which is the final year of his current deal.

“John Lynch said Jauan Jennings reported and took his physical and he anticipates Jennings ‘being out there.’ Said Lynch on contract situation, ‘We love him and he’s here,'” NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco posted on Bluesky.

“Kyle Shanahan: Jauan Jennings has not requested a trade. #49ers,” Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle posted on Bluesky.

With fellow San Francisco wideout Brandon Aiyuk suffering a season-ending torn ACL in Week 7 last October, Jennings stepped up to post career highs in receptions (77), receiving yards (975) and receiving touchdowns (six).

Even in Aiyuk’s absence, the Tennessee product still found himself fighting for looks from quarterback Brock Purdy with the likes of Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle and running back/wideout hybrid Deebo Samuel. Jennings ended the year leading the 49ers in targets (113), while ranking second behind Kittle in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.
