One day after news broke that Stefon Diggs was facing charges of strangulation and assault, another New England Patriots starter is making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Christian Barmore is looking at a domestic assault charge, as first reported by WCVB-TV Boston. Court documents show the he is scheduled to be arraigned for assault and battery on a family/household member charges on Feb. 3, 2026 in Attleborough District Court.

The charge stems from an incident on Aug. 8. Barmore and the victim got into an alleged fight over the air conditioning in his bedroom and also had another fight over food. The 26-year-old then grabbed her phone as she tried to leave the residence “and threw her to the floor.”

The Patriots released a statement on the matter:

“The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August,“ the statement reads. ”The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Barmore has been a cornerstone of the Patriots defense since his arrival as a second-round draft pick in 2021. He has appeared in 65 total regular season and playoff games for the team, including 16 this year.

Barmore signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Patriots in 2024.
