The Patriots’ 35-31 loss to the Bills on Sunday not only hurt New England’s chance of clinching the AFC East title but also damaged quarterback Drake Maye’s chance of winning MVP.
As of Sunday, FanDuel now has Maye with the second-best odds for MVP at +400, just behind Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is ahead of the pack at -250.
Maye had a rough day throwing the ball against the Bills, completing only 14 of 23 passes for 155 yards and one interception. However, his legs kept him from a bad outing, as he rushed for 43 yards and two touchdowns.
Stafford had an impressive performance against the Lions, leading the Rams to a 41-34 victory. He threw for 368 yards, completed two touchdowns and had one interception.
The MVP race is far from over, and Maye still has a shot at regaining his standing. However, he needed to deliver an outstanding performance against the Bills, as it was one of the most crucial games on the Patriots’ schedule.
Maye will look to get back on track next week when the Patriots travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens on “Sunday Night Football”.
