New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, whom the Tennessee Titans let go two years ago, got his revenge on Sunday by leading his team to a convincing 31-13 victory over them.
Every Patriots player helped Vrabel secure a victory in the place where he began his NFL head coaching career in 2018. Among them, quarterback Drake Maye emerged as one of the standout performers.
Maye passed for 222 yards and threw two touchdowns. He felt pleased when he heard the fans chanting Vrabel’s name after the game.
“That’s pretty cool,” Maye said on Sunday, via 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Alex Barth. “Vrabel downplayed it all week, which we appreciate. He was focused on us and worried about us, and that’s what matters. But I know that it feels good for him.”
Vrabel must have felt incredible hearing fans chant his name after the game, especially since the Patriots played in Nashville. If New England had played at home and the crowd had cheered for him, the scenario would have been different. However, hearing his name echo from fans on the road — in a city that no longer considered him fit to coach — must have made the moment truly special for him.
