And now we play the waiting game.

The New England Patriots wrapped up mandatory minicamp on Tuesday and the next time we see them on the field will be July 23rd at training camp.

Among those with the most to prove this summer is offensive tackle Will Campbell. The Patriots have great expectations for their 2025 first-round pick (No. 4 overall).

“There was a small contingency of folks who felt Campbell’s lack of ideal arm length necessitated a move inside to guard and perhaps that would allow him to reach a higher ceiling,” CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards said.

“The Patriots have matter of factly declared that he will be their left tackle, tasked with protecting franchise quarterback Drake Maye. Campbell is an outlier in terms of his measurables and will always carry the doubt in his left tackle capabilities with him.”

Campbell, for his part, will be keeping busy before training camp.

“Rookies, we’re still gonna be here, we’re still gonna be working,” Campbell said, according to Patriots.com’s Mike Dussault. “We don’t go home for a couple weeks, so just really getting better at everything, coming back and being a better player than I am today, is the biggest thing I can do to help this team moving forward.”

The 21-year-old Campbell isn’t the only new guy on the Patriots’ offensive line. New England gave former New York Jets tackle Morgan Moses a three-year, $24 million contract in March, putting the 34-year-old in position to be a mentor.

“Whenever you’re a rookie at any position, you look for a guy that has done it the right way, proven himself, and is a great person you can latch onto,” Campbell said, per Dussault. “He’s just been great to me—not only me but all the guys in the room. That goes for guys like Garrett [Bradbury] and big Mike [Onwenu] too.”

Campbell and the Patriots will report to training camp on July 22. This will be the 22nd straight year New England holds camp at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.
