New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has a reputation for toughness. He wants to instill that in his defense.

Keion White is entering his third NFL season and is someone who can set the tone on defense. He’s shown the ability to disrupt offenses, but hasn’t been consistent in doing so.

The defensive end recorded five sacks in 2024. However, four of the five sacks came in the first two weeks of the season. He had 16 quarterback hits, 12 of which came before November. The talent is there, but he needs to be more consistent.

White spoke to the media on Friday about expectations for himself and the defense.

“I don’t really care about potential, I care about what you do”, White said. “I operate in dos and don’ts. We haven’t done anything yet, so therefore we aren’t anything yet.”

It’s a no-nonsense approach from White, who many have tabbed as a player to watch this season.

White also takes a no-nonsense approach to rushing the passer. He wants to let his instincts take over more this season.

“Leading with violence is always my type of style. So, whenever I can do that and not read as much, that’s definitely beneficial for me,” White said.

The Patriots ranked last in the league in sacks last season. They’ll need to get to the quarterback more to get the defense off the field and keep points off the board.
