The Patriots took to the practice field again on Monday, and the entire team received a big scare.
First-year defensive coordinator Terrell Williams collapsed on the sideline and the training staff immediately rushed over to tend to the coach. A stretcher was brought out, but Williams was able to get up under his own power, which is hopefully a good sign. The coach was taken inside on a cart, and we should probably expect an update at some point.

Williams previously took a leave of absence from the team back in May due to an unspecified health scare and returned to the team right before training camp. The coach reportedly spent time resting at home, but stayed in contact with the team and staff.
“Coach T is still with us; we see him every single day on Zoom,” Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss said during Williams’ absence. “His energy is not unfelt. We still get to hear his energy, hear his voice. He gives us the corrections that we need to get. He’s still our DC and still leads this group.”
Williams is in his first season as the defensive coordinator in New England. However, it’s not the coach’s first time working under Mike Vrabel. Williams was Vrabel’s defensive line coach in Nashville from 2018-22, and then was given the assistant head coach title for the 2023 season, and got to be the head coach during a preseason game that year.
In 2024, Williams took over as the defensive line coach/run game coordinator in Detroit after Vrabel sat out the season. The two reunited this offseason, though, and there’s high expectations for this Patriot defense in 2025.
