The New England Patriots have their eyes set on the playoffs and continue to make transactions on their 53-man roster and practice squad.
The Patriots’ 53-man roster could be getting some big news soon, with the returns of Will Campbell and Milton Williams looming. However, on Tuesday, they announced they are releasing a player from their practice squad.
The Patriots released 25-year-old running back Jashaun Corbin from the practice squad. He was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad on Oct. 7 and was placed on the practice squad injured reserve later that month. Corbin originally signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2022.
He bounced around practice squads and only appeared in six games coming into this season. However, his talents were on display in the UFL. He led the UFL in rushing yards in 2025 with 514.
He was an All-UFL selection for the San Antonio Brahmas. The Patriots liked what they saw and gave him a shot on the practice squad. However, the NFL is a fast-moving business, and the Patriots decided to move on.
Corbin has just one rushing yard and 12 receiving yards in his NFL career. He has played 118 special teams snaps in six regular-season games. He did not play in any games for the Patriots in his short stint.
Releasing Corbin is not a move that is going to make or break the Patriots’ season. Those moves could be coming soon, however. Campbell is expected to return to practice before the Miami Dolphins game and Williams’ 21-day practice window is already open.
The Patriots still have a chance to claim the No. 1 seed, and getting Campbell and Williams could help them do that. However, their impacts on the playoff run will mean more.
