The New England Patriots were dealt a scare on Monday at practice when defensive coordinator Terrell Williams appeared to collapse on the field. Considering how Williams was forced to miss time during the spring with a medical condition, folks feared this incident had something to do with that.

However, it doesn’t appear that was the case. While a stretcher was brought out for Williams on Monday, he ended up being able to walk off the field on his own, with the team eventually revealing that their new defensive coordinator was simply dehydrated.

With the Patriots taking the field for practice on Tuesday, folks were curious to see if Williams would be in attendance. Sure enough, he was present for the action, indicating that he is indeed fine after his scary incident.

After Mike Vrabel took over as New England’s new head coach this offseason, he brought Williams aboard to be his new defensive coordinator. In 2024, Williams worked with the Detroit Lions as their defensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Before that, Williams was with the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023, working alongside Vrabel during his first stint as a head coach in the NFL. Williams was the team’s defensive line coach for the first five seasons before adding assistant head coach to his duties in 2023.

Now, Williams will be tasked with helping the Patriots’ defense turn things around after an ugly 2024 campaign. And while he’s dealt with some concerning health issues in the early going, it looks like he’s good to help the team continue their preparations for their preseason opener against the Washington Commanders on Friday.
