Christian Barmore issued a positive health update on Wednesday.
Barmore, who spoke with reporters for the first time this offseason, revealed that he’s been fully cleared for all football activities and expects to be in the lineup in Week 1. Barmore missed most of the 2024 season due to the ailment, and his return was short-lived. He hadn’t provided any sort of long-term update on his future until Wednesday.
The Patriots sure are glad they got the one they did.
Milton Williams was brought aboard this offseason, and the expectation is that he’ll be a key component of the defense alongside Barmore. It’s something the organization is banking on, so for now, the top priority is making sure everything is on the up and up with the latter.
“I’m really just enjoying the game I love again. Not worrying about what was holding me back last year,” Barmore said, per team-provided video. “Feeling good. More confidence in myself with my breathing… The biggest challenge has been battling with myself. I was doing every I can to come back last year.”
New England will keep a close eye on the 25-year-old, but it’s comforting to know things are in a good place ahead of OTAs.
