The New England Patriots made some alterations prior to celebrating their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Mike Vrabel didn’t wait outside the locker room and greet players like he typically does, instead running straight inside to presumably check on some notable injuries that occurred during the game. Christian Gonzales and some of his fellow defenders, on the other hand, started working the phones and placed a call to Jahlani Tavai.

“We were able to get him on a FaceTime,” Gonzalez said, per team provided video. “It’s great to be able to talk to him, see his face, see him smile – just continuing prayers for him and his family. We love him like a brother, so we’re continuing to pray for him and will ask anybody to pray for him, as well.”

Tavai was ruled out late last week due to personal reasons and missed the trip entirely.

Vrabel expressed that he would not provide details in regard to what is going on behind the scenes with Tavai. The Patriots will need to add the veteran linebacker to the injury report should his absence stretch into next week.
