Tom Brady made too many outstanding plays to count during his legendary career with the New England Patriots. Rather than sort through them all, they celebrated his birthday with moments that didn’t forge his path to Canton.
Brady turned 48 years old on Sunday. To commemorate the special occasion, the Patriots recalled the times Bill Belichick assigned him a less heralded responsibility.
New England shared a video montage of Brady punting. Isn’t that how we all remember the iconic quarterback?
“@TomBrady could do it all,” the Patriots wrote with a laughing emoji.
The Patriots previously sent a more straightforward birthday message to Brady on social media.
“Happy birthday GOAT,” the team said.
The NFL celebrated Brady with a picture he probably prefers to the punting video. He’s flashing all seven of his Super Bowl rings on his fingers.
Brady’s longtime wide receiver, Julian Edelman, posted a video of some of their many on-field connections set to “Just The Two Of Us.” FOX also congratulated Brady by sharing a drawing of Brady sitting in a Patriots jersey with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey hanging above him. He’s surrounded by seven Lombardi Trophies.
Brady ended his career as the NFL’s elder statesman, retiring at age 45. As the NFL noted Sunday, he remarkably compiled 27,632 passing yards, 193 passing touchdowns, an MVP and two Super Bowl wins in his 40s.
The NFL’s all-time passing leader responded to that Instagram graphic by jokingly teasing another comeback.
“50’s coming soon?” he wrote.
