New England Patriots linebacker Harold Landry III should be good to go for his club’s divisional round matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Why?
New England essentially telegraphed the veteran’s availability with their (lack of) roster moves on Saturday, which included the practice squad elevations of defensive lineman Leonard Taylor III and running back D’Ernest Johnson, and an activation off injured reserve for cornerback Alex Austin.
Landry, 29, has been dealing with a knee injury all season, but saw it really become an issue down the stretch as he missed the final two regular season games against the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. The Patriots routinely rotated him out of the lineup during their wild-card matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, too, as he played less snaps (26) than any of his regular season appearances and gave way in the fourth quarter to Elijah Ponder (22) and Anfernee Jennings (20).
Darrell Taylor, who was signed to the practice squad on Wednesday, was not elevated despite many thinking he was brought aboard as potential insurance — so it will be the same rotation against Houston.
The Patriots and Texans are scheduled to do battle at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday at Gillette Stadium
