Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton was feeling good about himself on Monday.
And rightfully so!
Thornton finished with five receptions and a touchdown during a much-needed victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, cementing his status as the temporary go-to target for Patrick Mahomes.
Yes, this is the same guy you think we’re talking about…
Thornton was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, but totaled just 39 receptions across three seasons before eventually being waived in November of 2024 — which is why certain fans have rather pessimistic toward him.
Thornton has taken notice, too.
“Thank you for all the hate & doubt!” Thornton posted to X, responding to some choice words used to caption a highlight of his touchdown reception.
Thornton is certainly excited to be where he is, when he is, and has found plenty of success during his early opportunities.
The Patriots, on the other hands, haven’t found much success fromt he wide receiver group deemed better than the fourth-year veteran.
It’s funny how those things work out, huh?
