The New England Patriots pulled off a shocking upset victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. As a result, the team is now 3-2 and just one game back in the division.

However, it wasn’t all positive for the Patriots. Veteran running back Antonio Gibson suffered a torn ACL in the win and will miss the remainder of the 2025 season as a result. That means Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson are the lone running backs on the active roster.

Henderson has gotten off to a slow start as a rookie and has just 121 yards over five games. Stevenson, who leads the team in carries, is tied for the league lead with three lost fumbles. Therefore, it’s not surprising that the Patriots are open to making an addition at the running back position.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the Patriots brought in three running backs for a workout: Deon Jackson, Damien Martinez, and Jashaun Corbin. Corbin ended up being signed to the practice squad, where he joins fellow running back Terrell Jennings.

Both Jennings and Corbin can be elevated to the active roster three times before the team has to give them a permanent spot. With just two active running backs, it seems likely that one of the two practice squad backs gets elevated for Week 6.

Corbin has spent time with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons. His lone NFL regular season action came in 2023 with the Giants when he caught three passes for 12 yards and rushed one time for one yard.

In 2025, Corbin played for the San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL and led the league with 514 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Jennings has been around longer, so I’d bet on him getting the call this weekend. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Corbin get a chance as well in the depleted room.
