When the New England Patriots invested the 28th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft in offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, they very much made their intentions known. Lomu and the team’s 2025 first-round selection, Will Campbell, would eventually become the bookends along the offensive line.
But while the plan is in motion, it won’t be fully implemented just yet. The Patriots, after all, have a reliable player opposite Campbell at the moment. At age 35, however, the end is near for Morgan Moses.

A two-time all-state selection at Meadowbrook High School in North Chesterfield, VA, who later played one year of prep football at Fork Union Military Academy, Moses spent his college career in his home state. He joined the University of Virginia in 2010 and over his four years stint appeared in 48 games with 43 starts — 30 at right tackle, 12 at left tackle, and one at right guard.
The one-time third-team All-ACC selection (2013) went onto enter the NFL as the 66th overall pick in the 2014 draft. Starting his career as a backup with what is now the Commanders, he was elevated to a starting position as a sophomore and never looked back: primarily a right tackle, Moses has started all but one game he appeared in since 2015 and missed just six combined contests.
Including the playoffs, he now has 192 games as well as 184 starts on his résumé as well as a combined 11,190 offensive snaps. A majority of those came during his seven seasons in Washington, but he also was a reliable player during his two separate stints with the Jets and his two-year tenure in Baltimore. Joining the Patriots in 2025, nothing has changed for Moses — with the exception of playoff success: after going 1-4 to start his career, he went 3-1 in his lone season in New England so far.
Strengths: Checking in at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds with long arms and a massive wingspan, Moses checks all the size requirements for an NFL offensive tackle. He uses his arms well to engage pass rushers in pass protection and force them to run a wide arc around the pocket. He also has the hip flexibility to maintain his leverage when opponents try to bend around him, plus the anchor and general core strength to wall off any attacks right at him. His hand fighting also is a plus; he places his mitts well and remains active against counters.
