Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs had an underwhelming 2025 NFL season. The AFC West team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014, which seemingly marked the end of an era for the squad.

Mahomes fought to keep his team afloat, but he couldn’t lead it to the postseason. Kansas City posted a 6-11 record after a grim 0-2 start that included losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and the Philadelphia Eagles. With the Chiefs taking a back seat in the AFC, Mahomes’ popularity appeared to have decreased.

After several years of having one of the most popular jerseys in the game, the quarterback had a different campaign. He was second last season, right behind Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who took the league by storm and became the ninth player in league history to rush for at least 2,000 yards.

Patrick Mahomes’ Jersey Isn’t As Popular As Before

A lot can change in a year in the NFL, including which player gets more love from fans.

Per the NFL Shop (via Jake Fenner of the Daily Mail), Patrick Mahomes ranked 22nd in the league in jersey sales. He was behind Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (21st) and ahead of Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (23rd).

It hasn’t been an easy season for Mahomes, who was even criticized for his off-field actions in December. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury against the Chargers in Week 15, putting an end to a season to forget.

On the other side, he appears to be working on a reunion with Tyreek Hill, as the Chiefs still need firepower at wide receiver.
