Nepotism has never been talked about more in sports, as it seems to be everywhere these days in multiple sports. The biggest example of nepotism in sports right now, or at least the most widely known, is LeBron James forcing the Lakers to draft his son, Bronny.

We now have another example of some nepotism in sports. Patrick Mahomes’ half-brother, Graham Wilson, is getting a mini-camp invite to the Kansas City Chiefs for mini-camp this week.

I’m not saying that Patrick Mahomes told the Kansas City Chiefs that they needed to invite his brother. But, I will say that had he asked, it would’ve been a reasonable request. Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl Champion and five-time AFC Champion, has reached the AFC Championship Game in every season as a starter. He’s the best player in franchise history and one of the greatest players in NFL history. Giving him the ability to get his half-brother an tryout invite to a rookie minicamp, which happened this weekend, with 87 people attending really isn’t that big of a deal.

Who is his brother? Here is Pro Football Talk with more.

The son of Pat Mahomes Sr., Walker transferred to Rice last year, with the initial plan to play receiver. He later switched to tight end.

Walker, listed at 6’3″ and 227 pounds, caught 24 passes for 252 yards in 2024. In 2023 at Brown, Walker had 44 catches for 515 yards and six touchdowns.

His best season statistically came as a freshman in 2021, when Walker caught 53 passes for 658 yards and six touchdowns.

Is Walker going to make the Chiefs? Almost certainly not. But, it’s a nice gesture towards the Mahomes family.
