For the first time in four years, Kansas City’s star quarterback doesn’t begin the season with a 99 rating.

Player ratings for EA Sports’ “Madden 26” video game are beginning to be released. As they come out, we’ll be breaking down every one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ position groups.

But for the first time in four years, no Kansas City player will start the game in Madden’s “99 Club.”

For the 2025 season, the players with 99 Madden ratings include the Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson, the Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett, the Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase, the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson.

The Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes is arguably a snub from this year’s “99 Club.” He had been a member at the release of each of the last four editions of the game. Even a rating of 95 (or higher) feels low for the two-time MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion. In “Madden 20,” Mahomes jumped from a 77 overall to a 97 at the release — was upgraded to 99 later in the year.

That could happen again as the season progresses.

Other Kansas City players who have been part of the “99 Club” include Travis Kelce and Chris Jones. But based on last season’s production, it may be a tougher climb for these veterans to return to that elite ranking.
