Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth doesn’t care about his big performance against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth has been subject to trade rumors amid his disappointing start to the season. However, he silenced his doubters against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night as he led the team with five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

It was certainly the redemption game Freiermuth needed as he entered the matchup with just eight catches for 76 yards and zero touchdowns on the year, but all he cares about is not coming away with the win.

“Obviously not the start of the season individually I wanted,” Freiermuth said. “But you know, it’s all about the team, and you know, I wish, obviously, we won today.”

Freiermuth has put his team-first mentality on display through the first four years of his NFL career and this season seems to be no different, even while he was on pace to have the worst statistical season of his career.

He was able to turn that aspect of his season around while also helping the Steelers make a little bit of NFL history on Thursday night.

Freiermuth, along with fellow tight ends Jonnu Smith and Darnell Washington, helped Pittsburgh become just the second team in NFL history to have three tight ends catch a touchdown in the same game.

“Just super proud man,” he said. “I mean, I think we all feed off each other and we’re such a close knit group. Just super happy for all of them.”

Only time will tell if Freiermuth and the rest of the Steelers tight end room can continue their dominance into Pittsburgh’s Week 8 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

Freiermuth, who was clearly a focus on Pittsburgh’s offense this week, is only focused on getting back into the win column next week, though.

“Yeah, that was a bit of an emphasis this week,” Freiermuth said. “You know, appreciate that, but still wish we came out on top with a win.”
