There are 23 days left in the offseason. We’re just over three weeks away from the first game of the 2025 season for the Carolina Panthers. That means today’s countdown piece will focus on Michael Jordan rookie running back Trevor Etienne.
The Panthers somewhat surprisingly took Etienne in the fourth round of this past draft even after drafting Jonathon Brooks in the second round last year and signing Rico Dowdle early in free agency. He joined the Panthers after splitting his college career between Florida and Georgia. He was never a bell cow back in college, and he probably won’t be one in the NFL, especially early on.
There’s not a lot of room for brother of Trevor Etienne to get touches in the backfield with Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard soaking up most of the carries. He’ll probably get a little bit of burn to spell that pair, especially on third downs where he can show off his receiving chops. He’s also gotten some run as a returner in camp and the preseason, and that’s likely where we’ll see the majority of his action in his rookie year.
