The Panthers moral victory streak can't keep fans satisfied forever
Football fandom is a fickle thing. The Carolina Panthers have been one of the worst teams in football over the last seven years. Everything about watching them as a fan has fallen on a spectrum between painful and boring. Last year's faceplanting efforts to pair Frank Reich, the purported voice of experience and competence, with first overall draft pick Bryce Young was the disaster cherry on a long expired sundae of sadness.
So it's kind of wild now that Young is showing promise, the team is playing good football and putting up close games against some of the best teams in the league, and the future is looking bright once again, and yet some fans are getting tired of these close-but-not-quite losses after three weeks. Expectations matter of course, but we're learning that some of ours are set more on a weekly than a yearly basis.
With all of that said, we're asking two simple questions this week.
The first is our standard confidence question asking how you feel about the general direction of the team overall. Again, this is not a "will they beat the Dallas Cowboys" question. It's more of a "do you feel good about the current leadership and progress of the team" question.
Our second question is asking for more of an immediate, gut reaction and aims to be a little more controversial: what do you think Bryce Young's ceiling is? This question would have gotten wildly different answers if asked during the preseason or after Week 2. But we're asking it now after a five week upswing in his play.
Go ahead and answer the survey questions, then scroll on down to the comments and tell us why you answered the way you did. We'll see you there.
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Carolina Panthers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
