At least we still aren’t sliding backwards
The Carolina Panthers continue to inspire fans with confidence as they draw nearer the close of one of their worst seasons, by record, in franchise history. Dave Canales and Bryce Young have shown great improvement in recent weeks and that has been enough for fans to believe in the future.
A record high 88% of fans are confident in the direction of this team, a number that has been rising steadily over the last five weeks. Those weeks have been marked by significant improvements in the on field product, particularly in the level of play that Young is exhibiting.
That led us to ask, after one of the most disappointing seasons possible in 2023 and an even worse start to the 2024 season, what fans of the Panthers view as Young’s ceiling. He was an obvious bust just 13 weeks ago, but there is room for that to have changed.
It turns out that most of you think he can be a mid-tier starter. There is a long line of quarterbacks from Carson Wentz stretching back to Trent Dilfer who have won Super Bowls in living memory who would also qualify as no better than a mid-tier starter—even during their Super Bowl runs. That’s a huge leap in prospects for Young,
Meanwhile, 27% of y’all think he can be an elite starter still. While 2% of you think he is still a bust. That makes 29% of fans that I think have some trouble calibrating their expectations based on the available evidence.
