Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan let the Pittsburgh Steelers and rest of the NFL know they’re open for business.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin reportedly really like Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, but it might take a trade-up to land him. Luckily for the Steelers, they have options.

Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan recently revealed they are open to moving down from pick No. 8.

“We’ll be waiting if somebody wants to come up,” Morgan said.

#Panthers GM Dan Morgan said his phone didn’t go nuts after the news broke on Derek Carr’s shoulder injury… despite holding the No. 8 pick, right before the #Saints. But he sounds like a guy open to offers.

The Panthers find themselves in a very interesting spot after news broke last week that New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for the 2025 season.

That puts the Saints very much in play for a quarterback at pick No. 9. However, if a team like the Steelers want to try to jump New Orleans, the Panthers are now providing that path.

Sanders must first make it past the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 2 and New York Giants, who are planning to get one last look at him this week, at pick No. 3. But if both teams pass on him, it’s anyone’s game.

Pittsburgh’s draft plans could change any day now if free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers makes a decision on if and where he wants to play in 2025. If that isn’t the case, though, quarterback could be in play for the Steelers on Day 1.

Sanders is an intriguing prospect and could prove to be Pittsburgh’s answer at quarterback after throwing for 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns and 13 interceptions over the past two seasons at Colorado.

The Steelers are clearly interested in Sanders after hosting him for a pre-draft visit. The question is, are they willing to pay the steep price of a trade-up to pick No. 8 to land him?

That could prove to be difficult without a second-round pick thanks to Pittsburgh’s trade for wide receiver DK Metcalf.
