A couple of new Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten surprisingly close this season.

New Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf and defensive back Jalen Ramsey battled each other in the NFC West for several years as members of the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. However, the two former rivals have now formed an unlikely bond in Pittsburgh.

Metcalf recently revealed that he and Ramsey talk before taking the field every week.

“Before every game, it’s like, ‘I need you 4. I got you 5.’ That’s how it is. It’s like a brotherhood now,” Metcalf said on The Christian Kuntz Podcast. “Even when me and Joey (Porter Jr.) got going when y’all came up to Seattle a couple years ago, now he’s the first person I go up against for team warmups. Shake each other’s hand. Let’s go. It’s just like a brotherhood.”

A few years ago, it may have been difficult to imagine Metcalf and Ramsey being teammates, nonetheless friends. However, the two have proven to be a perfect fit on the Steelers.

Metcalf has begun playing up to his five-year, $150 million contract extension that he signed when Pittsburgh acquired him from the Seahawks in the offseason. In 14 games, he has recorded 55 catches for a team-leading 808 yards and six touchdowns.

Ramsey, on the other hand, has been a versatile weapon for the Steelers defense. Since beginning the season as one of the team’s starting cornerbacks, he has made the switch to safety and has been a natural fit.

The three-time first-team All-Pro has racked up 74 tackles, three for a loss, three sacks, six passes defensed and one interception.

Ramsey’s future in Pittsburgh is a little bit more up in the air as his cap hit skyrockets to over $17 million next season, per Spotrac. However, if he continues playing the way he has, it seems inevitable that he and the team will figure something out and keep him and Ramsey together for years to come.
