According to NFL Reporter Aaron Wilson, the Green Bay Packers worked out two defensive tackles on Tuesday. At the moment, the Packers haven’t reported an injury to any of the eight players they roster at the position: Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, Karl Brooks, Colby Wooden, Warren Brinson, Nazir Stackhouse, James Ester or Keith Randolph. With that being said, Green Bay did drop defensive tackles Nesta Jade Silvera and Cameron Young at the start of training camp.

The two defensive tackles that the Packers brought in are Kevin Hester Jr. and Justin Rogers. Among them, Rogers is probably the bigger name.

In 2024, Rogers was drafted in the seventh round by the Dallas Cowboys, who let him go at cutdowns. From there, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad, but was poached by the Cowboys to bring him up to Dallas’ 53-man roster in December. He was kept on the team until June 18th, when he was waived. In July, Rogers signed with the Seattle Seahawks, where he lasted about a week.

Per Pro Football Focus, the former Kentucky and Auburn player played 111 preseason snaps last year and earned an overall defensive grade of 57.8. He didn’t get a single regular-season snap, despite being on the Cowboys’ 53-man roster toward the end of 2024.

Hester played six years of college football at North Carolina, suiting up in 60 total games for the Tarheels. He went undrafted in April but received rookie minicamp tryouts with both the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons. Neither led to a signing. Since rookie minicamps, he has been worked out by the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and now the Packers.

Over the last four years, when he’s received the majority of his snaps, PFF has graded Hester between a 60.0 and 64.7 overall defensive grade at the college level.
