On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers demolished the Detroit Lions 27-13, blowing away the 2.5-point spread that had built up leading into the teams’ week one matchup. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders took care of an awful New York Giants squad, covering their own 6-point spread in a 21-6 victory.

The two victorious teams will now face each other in week 2, kicking off the weekend of football at Lambeau Field on Thursday night. With the Packers at home and scoring the more impressive win last Sunday, it is no surprise that they are the favored team, with FanDuel Sportsbook currently putting them as 3.5-point favorites as of Tuesday morning.

This Commanders team has gotten used to beating the odds, however. Last season, when they made an improbable run to the NFC Championship Game, the Commanders went 12-8 against the spread, including a 10-7 record in the regular season and a 2-1 performance in the playoffs. Combined, they had equal marks as favorites and underdogs as well, going 6-4 in both situations.

The Packers, meanwhile, finished last season dead even at 9-9 against the spread, which includes their playoff loss to the Eagles. That record made them 9-8 against the spread in the regular season, despite having a better 11-6 overall record. However, they did cover in both games that they played on Thursdays, beating Miami as 3-point favorites on Thanksgiving night and losing a three-point game to the Lions the following week as 3.5-point underdogs.

Last week, both teams’ games stayed under the points total, however, with Packers-Lions falling short of the 47.5 total by a touchdown and the Commanders-Giants result being nearly 20 points lower than their projected 45.5. Despite those results, Thursday’s game is evidently expected to be reasonably high-scoring, with the over/under set at 48.5. That is the second-highest number of any week 2 game, behind only the Jaguars and Bengals (49.5)
