Packers tackle depth will be tested in 2026

The Packers have gone through a lot of offensive line turnover in the still pretty young Jordan Love era. Of the five linemen who blocked for Love in Week 1 of the 2023 season, just one (Zach Tom) is still on the roster, and his availability is somewhat in doubt for the early portions of this year.

That’s not to say there’s not talent on the offensive line today; I’m not here to worry about the Packers’ overall offensive line quality. But I am concerned about their depth at tackle, and maybe you should be, too.

Right now, the Packers just don’t have many bodies at the offensive line’s bookend spots. They list six pure guards on their roster page right now, but just four pure tackles: Jordan Morgan and Darian Kinnard both get the T/G designation, while Zach Tom doesn’t get a position at all — they just call him an “OL.” (And I know that doesn’t add anything to this story, but it’s weird. Why does he get the special position and not Jordan Morgan, who has moved around just as much as Tom in his career, if not more?)

But beside that point, the Packers lack depth at tackle at the top of their offensive line depth chart.

I think most people would agree that the Packers’ top seven linemen right now are, in some order, Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Anthony Belton, Zach Tom, Darian Kinnard, and Jager Burton. Assuming the Packers keep as many as 10 linemen, the next three up would probably be Jacob Monk, Donovan Jennings, and Travis Glover right now, though all could certainly be displaced by new arrivals.

Of those 10, only Morgan, Tom, and Kinnard really put any quality tape out there at tackle last year, and there’s reason to be concerned about all three. Morgan is now starting at left tackle, where he hasn’t played full time since college. Tom is coming off significant knee surgery. Kinnard was solid enough in limited reps last year, but he’s never been a full-time starter for anything resembling an extended period of time.

Beyond that, things get even more grim. I wouldn’t, but you could group Anthony Belton with the tackles in a pinch. An early season injury ended his run at right tackle after just 86 snaps in relief of Tom, and he played guard exclusively thereafter, having been, charitably, an adventure on the outside.

And from there, it’s even worse. Monk is exclusively an interior player. Donovan Jennings is considered a combo guard and tackle, but has never taken a preseason or regular season snap at guard. The Packers are reportedly high on Travis Glover, but we’ve only seen nine tackle snaps from him in games that have counted, though he did play more than 100 snaps there in 2024 preseason action. The rest of his work (again, all in 2024 because a back injury scuttled his 2025 season) was at guard, and lest I remind you of the...
