Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has been listed as a cut candidate ahead of the upcoming season.

The wideout was recently linked with a trade to the Cleveland Browns. However, a piece from Bleacher Report’s Christopher Knox suggests he could be released following preseason affairs.

“Of the Packers receivers who could realistically be cut, Doubs is the most noteworthy,” Knox writes.

He adds:

“He’s been an impactful pass-catcher at times and has recorded 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns through three seasons. However, he’s also struggled with drops (22 in 43 games) and might not be in Green Bay’s long-term plans.”

Packers WR Romeo Doubs could be a cut candidate after the preseason.

Doubs, drafted by the Packers in 2022, has built a reputation as a reliable target in the team’s offense. He entered the NFL with expectations of becoming a deep-threat contributor and showed lots of promise in his rookie season.

The former Nevada star caught 42 passes for 425 yards and three touchdowns, despite missing time with an ankle injury.

Romeo Doubs Won’t Look Back Fondly On 2024

Romeo Doubs stepped up his production in his second season, registering 674 yards and eight touchdowns off 59 receptions. However, the 2024 season was not one he will look back on fondly after missing several games due to concussions and illness. He was also suspended for one game after skipping practice, having grown disenchanted with his role.

Rather interestingly, the Packers drafted a wide receiver this year in Matthew Golden, their first selection since Doubs and Christian Watson were picked in 2022. While he’s thought to have “the worst aura of all time,” expectations are high.

Although Doubs experienced major setbacks last season, he still registered career highs in yards per reception and yards per game and maintains a great relationship with Jordan Love, whom he trains with during the summer.

Love, meanwhile, had a minor surgical procedure done on his hand last week but has since returned to training.
