Packers Snap Counts: Week 9 vs. Panthers

The Green Bay Packers lost to the Carolina Panthers. It sucked. I don’t want to think about the game too deeply right now. Instead of breaking down the game, let’s just take you through the Packers’ Week 9 snap counts. We can start this week’s autopsy with who was on the field on offense and defense.

Quarterbacks

  • 62 snaps: Jordan Love
  • 0: Malik Willis

Running Backs

  • 36: Josh Jacobs
  • 21: Emanuel Wilson
  • 11: Chris Brooks (8 SPT)

Chris Brooks broke double-digit offensive snaps for the first time since Week 2! He goes unnoticed often, but was on the field for a couple of the Packers’ limited explosive plays against the Panthers. Meanwhile, Emanuel Wilson was very shaky in protection, particularly when Carolina sent blitzes up the middle.

Receivers

  • 58: Romeo Doubs (3 SPT)
  • 41: Christian Watson
  • 27: Malik Heath (3 SPT)
  • 22: Matthew Golden
  • 19: Savion Williams (3 SPT)

Remember, Matthew Golden went down with an injury at one point in this game. That’s why Malik Heath played more snaps than him. It’s also worth noting that we saw a significant uptick in Savion Williams’ snaps in Week 9. Coming into the game, Williams was playing just 7.6 offensive snaps per contest.

Tight Ends

  • 30: Luke Musgrave (3 SPT)
  • 30: Tucker Kraft
  • 18: John FitzPatrick

If you haven’t heard yet, I’m here to break the bad news that the belief is that Tucker Kraft tore his ACL against the Panthers. Luke Musgrave and John FitzPatrick have traded off as being TE2 throughout this season, so I don’t think it’s cemented that Musgrave will be the replacement starter in place of Kraft.

Another brutal gut punch is that the team lost TE Ben Sims when they subjected him to waivers last week, leading to him being claimed by the Minnesota Vikings. Prior to that, he would have been TE3 on the team. Now, look for practice squadder Josh Whyle, who was added to the team after roster cutdowns, to come up to the 53-man roster.

Offensive Linemen

  • 63: Zach Tom (4 SPT)
  • 63: Jordan Morgan (4 SPT)
  • 63: Rasheed Walker (4 SPT)
  • 63: Elgton Jenkins (4 SPT)
  • 54: Sean Rhyan (4 SPT)
  • 9: Aaron Banks
  • 0: Darian Kinnard (4 SPT)
  • 0: Anthony Belton (4 SPT)

Aaron Banks went down with yet another injury in this game. This one is being called a stinger, but he’s dealt with back, ankle, groin and shin injuries already this year. In 2024, he missed action with the San Francisco 49ers with a season-ending MCL injury and a concussion, but also played the season with a broken finger. The often-injured left guard was replaced by Sean Rhyan on Sunday.

Defensive Ends

  • 49: Micah Parsons
  • 39: Rashan Gary
  • 24: Kingsley Enagbare (4 SPT)
  • 1: Barryn Sorrell
  • 0: Arron Mosby (12 SPT)

The Packers never said...
