The Green Bay Packers announced that they’ll be wearing their all-white uniforms against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. This avoids a uniform matchup disaster, as the Pittsburgh Steelers are wearing gold helmets and their 1933 throwback uniforms on Sunday night.

If the Packers wore their traditional road uniforms, it would’ve been the NFL’s first all-yellow helmet game since the same matchup in 1954.

The newly designed 1933 throwback uniforms pay homage to the 1933 team.

“We’re excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in July. “It’s especially fitting that we’ll debut these uniforms on Sunday night, October 26 when we play the Green Bay Packers – another franchise in the league with a long and rich history.”

The Steelers last wore their 1933 throwback uniforms in 1994. This time, however, they will wear their gold helmets, too.

“The yellow helmet is sweet,” tight end Pat Freiermuth said. “We’ve worn black helmets since I’ve been here, and well before that, and just switching it up to a new helmet I love. It gets players excited. It gets the fans excited. It’s something cool to showcase. After we wear them, I want to keep that helmet forever. It’s super cool.”

The gold throwback jersey features black stripes, with large white block letters trimmed in black on the front. The front will also feature the City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder.

The helmet features a gold matte finish with a gray facemask and a black stripe down the middle, while the players will complete the look with beige uniform pants.

“I’m really excited for it, and to be wearing them on Sunday Night Football, it’s going to be awesome,” outside linebacker Alex Highsmith said. “Everyone’s going to be able to see them. It won’t be a regular one o’clock game. It’ll be a primetime game. I’m just excited for everyone to see them.”
