Or would you have rather kept him on the roster at his big price tag?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Green Bay Packers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

The Green Bay Packers made a rather controversial move this week when they released cornerback Jaire Alexander. By setting him loose, the Packers freed up more than $35 million in cash and salary cap money over the next two years, which will surely be used on contract extensions for some of the team’s young players (among other things).

Alexander had played in just 16 games out of a possible 38 over the past two seasons, counting both the regular season and playoffs, and that lack of availability was the main reason why the Packers were unwilling to keep him in Green Bay on his current contract. Now, after being unable to agree on an incentive-laden restructure, Alexander heads to the free agent market.

What we at Acme Packing Company want to know is this: Do Packers fans believe this was the right decision? Put yourself in general manager Brian Gutekunst’s shoes and tell us what you think.

Clearly, the two sides were unable to find common ground on a pay cut with incentives. There was also no team willing to acquire him in a trade and leave his contract untouched, otherwise the Packers would have made a deal. So with the only two real options on the table being either (a) to release Alexander or (b) keep him on his existing contract for 2025 — which would have paid him nearly $18 million — which would you have chosen?

Let us know and give us any explanation you would like in the comments. We’ll be very curious to see where this survey lands.
