The Green Bay Packers are in rough shape heading into the final weeks of the regular season. Green Bay lost 22-16 against Chicago on Saturday in an overtime thriller that exposed the team’s injury issues. The Packers just got an update on when one of their injured players will have an important surgery.
Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons will have ACL surgery sometime after Christmas, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport added that Parsons will face a nine-month recovery after the surgery. If that timeline holds, Parsons could return to full health by the beginning of the 2026 regular season. But he may still need time to get back into football shape before playing again.
Parsons tore his ACL during Green Bay’s Week 15 loss against Denver. The team initially feared the worst, and an MRI confirmed the damage on Monday.
But the Packers are confident that Parsons will return better than ever next season.
“Just wait til you see how hard he works to come back, how fast he probably comes back,” Packers DC Jeff Hafley said per The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. “If I were a betting man I’d bet that he comes back even better and probably breaks the [NFL] sack record next year… That’s the confidence I have in him.”
Parsons’ recovery will be a story to track throughout the 2026 offseason.
Unfortunately, the Parsons injury is far from the only situation that Packers fans need to keep an eye on.
Green Bay lost QB Jordan Love to a concussion during the second quarter on Saturday. He was ruled out and did not return to the game, instead being replaced by backup Malik Willis.
Love is now in concussion protocol and would need to progress all the way through it before next Saturday’s game. Otherwise, Willis could be set for another start.
Meanwhile, Packers fans should also monitor injuries to RB Josh Jacobs and WR Romeo Doubs. Jacobs has been nursing a knee injury and left Saturday’s game prematurely. Doubs suffered a wrist injury.
Now the pressure on Green Bay is even greater as their injuries continue to pile up.
Next up for the Packers is a Week 17 matchup against the Ravens on Saturday December 27th.
