On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers hit the road for a big showdown against the AFC-leading Denver Broncos. The Packers were coming off a huge home win over the Chicago Bears last week, which kept their hopes for the number one seed in the NFC very much alive as the season enters its home stretch.
Micah Parsons has been playing elite football all year for the Packers since being acquired from the Dallas Cowboys shortly before the season began, and on Sunday, he finally got some help from the officials after weeks of offensive linemen’s blatant holding penalties being ignored.
“Breaking news: Micah Parsons has received his first holding call since Week 6 at Arizona. He’s held every week. It’s been a minute — or, several weeks — since it got called,” reported Ryan Wood of USA Today on X, formerly Twitter.
Parsons and other elite players like him often get the short end of the stick when it comes to drawing penalties considering how much more physically imposing they are than everyone else on the field, so it was nice to see him finally get a call to go his way against the Broncos.
Meanwhile, the Packers as a whole have a golden opportunity on Sunday to get back in control of the NFC playoff picture, especially considering that the conference-leading Los Angeles Rams got off to a rough start to their game against the Detroit Lions.
In any case, the Packers will next take the field next Sunday for a rematch against the Bears.
