On Wednesday, Green Bay Packers left tackle Rasheed Walker popped up on the injury report with a quadricep injury and was listed as a limited participant. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was not asked about Walker’s status during his pre-practice press conference on Thursday, so, at this point, there’s no confirmation of when this injury occurred or how serious the injury is — as Walker was able to finish Week 4’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
What we do know, though, is that Walker was a non-participant in practice on Thursday, according to the media present at the practice. Walker joined defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (knee) and offensive tackle Anthony Belton (ankle) as the players who were held out of action entirely on Thursday.
If both Walker and Belton are out on Sunday, the Packers’ best-case scenario offensive line is probably Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Elgton Jenkins, Sean Rhyan and Zach Tom (left to right). I say best-case scenario, because both Banks and Tom, who have been unable to finish a game this season, were listed as limited participants in Green Bay’s padded practice yesterday.
Even if the Packers have their best-case scenario line, the team will need to call up another lineman to their gameday roster, as they’ll only have seven “healthy” players at the position, with a bench made up of just Darian Kinnard and Donovan Jennings.
The good news is that Green Bay has options. They opened up Jacob Monk’s 20-day practice window this week, and he was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday. The Packers also have two practice squad options in Lecitus Smith, who was called up against the Dallas Cowboys, and Dalton Cooper, if Monk isn’t ready for game action, too.
Stay tuned for news on the Walker front, as digging into his injury situation by the beat will kick off after practice. Hopefully, we don’t hear that he was hurt during Wednesday’s practice, like Belton was leading up to Cowboys prep or kicker Brandon McManus was yesterday.
