After practice on Monday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was spotted playing with his wrapped thumb in front of the Packers’ medical staff. On Tuesday, Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed that Love injured his left thumb on the sack he took against the New York Jets, when he banged his hand on a helmet. Love’s thumb issue apparently revolves around a ligament, one that will require surgery later on Tuesday.

Gutekunst said that post-surgery, he expects Love to be in practice next week. Hopefully, this procedure is as small as it sounds.

In other injury news, Gutekunst also stated that he “absolutely” thinks that Packers safety Xavier McKinney will be ready to play in Week 1 of the regular season. McKinney has been out of action recently with a calf issue.

The general manager mentioned that receiver Christian Watson, who tore his ACL at the end of the 2024 regular season, will start the season on the physically unable to perform list, meaning that he’ll miss the first four games of 2025. After that, though, all bets off. Watson might be ready to play football in Week 6 after the Packers’ bye.
