Sullivan is set to interview for a second time with Jacksonville
The Jacksonville Jaguars are moving quickly to fill their general manager vacancy. Per NFL rules, the position must be filled by the time the NFL Scouting Combine kicks off in less than two weeks.
One of the final candidates that the Jaguars talked to in their first series of interviews was the Green Bay Packers’ vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan, who had a meeting with the team on Valentine's Day. Apparently, he left a mark with the decision-makers there.
Sullivan, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, is one of the candidates who is going to meet the Jaguars for a second in-person interview for the job. Previously, Sullivan had interviewed for the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets and Tennessee Titans jobs this offseason, earning a second interview for the Titans gig that ultimately went to John Spytek. To say the least, he’s a pretty popular candidate, even though he hasn’t landed a general manager job yet.
Since 2003, Sullivan has filled the roles of training camp intern, football operations department employee, central plains regional scout, southeast regional scout, director of college scouting, co-director of player personnel and vice president of player personnel. The fact that he’s been slowly promoted in titles over the course of three different general managers — Mike Sherman, Ted Thompson and Brian Gutekunst — speaks to how the team values him.
