Entering today, Isaiah McDuffie had one year remaining on his contract. The veteran Packers linebacker has officially received a new commitment from the team.
McDuffie signed another Green Bay extension on Monday, the team announced. Today’s news means he will remain on the books through 2027. No guarantees were in place for that year leading up to this latest deal, but that is no longer the case. Over the Cap notes this newest deal is one year in length and worth $4.85MM. It includes $1.5MM in full guarantees, coming in the form of a signing bonus.
A sixth-round pick in 2021, McDuffie has spent his entire career with the Packers. Across his first two NFL seasons, he occupied a special teams role with a limited defensive workload. Things changed in 2023, though, when McDuffie logged eight defensive starts. The Boston College product has been a defensive mainstay since then, surpassing 90 tackles in each of the past two years.
McDuffie has remained a regular figure on special teams throughout his career; he handled a 72% third phase snap share in 2025. A similar workload can be expected moving forward, with free agent addition Zaire Franklin and 2024 second-rounder Edgerrin Cooper atop the depth chart. McDuffie, 27 later this month, will be tasked with remaining a key presence alongside those two for the foreseeable future.
After playing out his rookie contract, McDuffie agreed to a two-year, $8MM deal to avoid a trip to the open market. After a durable opening season on that second contract, he represented a logical candidate for a new short-term commitment. This latest agreement includes $500K in new money guarantees, per Over the Cap. McDuffie will collect a $750K bonus if on the roster by the third day of the 2027 league year. Today’s deal also contains annual per-game roster and workout bonuses.
The Packers entered Monday with over $23MM in cap space. As a result, outside free agent additions leading up to training camp will not be a challenge from a financial standpoint. Nevertheless, another short-term pact has been worked out to ensure McDuffie will remain a key defensive figure moving forward.
