Acme Packing Company
The Green Bay Packers might be exploring new revenue streams to keep up with the rest of the NFL, but one thing will not be changing any time soon: the name of Lambeau Field.
One of the biggest questions raised by CEO Ed Policy’s recent comments to the press was about the status of the legendary stadium’s name. With Policy recently acknowledging that the Packers’ ownership structure limits certain avenues for raising funds, one potential option that the organization could have pursued was a naming rights deal for the most iconic venue in professional football.
However, Policy put any of those questions to rest quickly and firmly during Monday’s 2026 Shareholders Meeting with a single sentence: “We are not selling the naming rights to Lambeau Field.”
That statement came during a section of the meeting that addressed the organization’s plan to keep the Packers in Green Bay. While the team has expressed an openness to selling naming rights to other buildings and facets of the team facilities, such as the practice facilities across the street, Lambeau Field’s name is officially hands off for the foreseeable future. Instead, the team’s focus will remain on generating additional revenue through other means, such as the Titletown District developments around the stadium and the use of Lambeau Field for other, non-Packers-related events.
For example, one of those such events is coming up on the first Saturday in September when the stadium will play host to a college football game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
This news should not be a surprise. Lambeau Field is one of just two NFL stadiums without a naming rights deal of some kind, with Soldier Field being the other. Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs, is an oddity; the stadium itself retains that name, but the team sold naming rights to the field inside to GEHA, an insurance company. However, both the Chicago Bears and the Chiefs are working on building new stadiums across state lines from their current homes, with the new venues sure to have some form of corporate branding involved.
It is possible that the “GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium” model could be a possibility for the Packers and Lambeau Field down the line, but for now that remains off the table. Lambeau Field will simply be “Lambeau Field,” at least for the foreseeable future.
