Green Bay Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon was given an illness status on the team’s injury report adjustment on Saturday. He’s now listed as questionable for the game, as is cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee), who apparently got injured during Friday’s practice.

If, for some reason, Nixon and Hobb can’t play against the Arizona Cardinals this week, the next men up for the team will be Carrington Valentine and Bo Melton, the latter of whom hasn’t yet played a defensive snap for the Packers in a regular-season game after transitioning from receiver. The only other cornerback on the 53-man roster will be Kamal Hadden, who has only been active for two games this year. Otherwise, Hadden has been a healthy scratch.

The good news here is the Packers didn’t feel the need to call up a practice squad cornerback, so they must feel pretty good about Nixon and Hobbs. Instead, they called up defensive end Arron Mosby and running back Pierre Strong Jr.

Mosby is insurance following Lukas Van Ness’ foot injury last week. Mosby is less of a true defensive end than a defender who plays special teams, though. He’s played off-ball linebacker, 3-4 outside linebacker and 4-3 defensive end over his NFL career. In total, he’s posted just 152 defensive snaps, over four years, compared to 274 special teams reps.

Strong is interesting because starting running back Josh Jacobs was given an illness/calf designation on Friday, despite being a full participant in the Packers’ final practice of the week. Hopefully, Jacobs can be a full go against Arizona.

Lastly, the Packers also activated offensive lineman Jacob Monk, who was in the second week of his 21-day practice window, off the injured reserve and onto the 53-man roster.
