Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden (hip; questionable) is expected to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Golden wasn’t on the injury report until Friday, so his questionable status came as a surprise. The blazing-fast rookie out of Texas has caught 18 passes for 249 yards (13.8 average) this season.

Golden, the Packers’ first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, led the Longhorns with 987 receiving yards and had an SEC-high nine touchdown grabs last season. At the Combine, Golden turned heads with a 4.29-second 40-yard dash.

Golden’s incredible speed has already made an impression in Green Bay. He’s the type of receiver that they’ve been looking for.

Fellow Green Bay receiver Christian Watson is also set to make his season debut on Sunday night after being activated from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday afternoon.

With Golden and Watson questionable and wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (calf) ruled out, it appeared that Green Bay could be limited at the receiver position against the Steelers. All signs point to Golden and Watson being active, however.

In addition to veteran Romeo Doubs, Golden and Watson, Jordan Love has two quality tight ends to throw to in Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave. Josh Jacobs is also a receiving threat out of the backfield.

Watson revealed earlier this week that he has the intention of returning to the field on Sunday Night Football.

“My goal and my plan is to play this week,” Watson said, adding that he felt ready last week.

Watson has not played at all this season as he has been rehabbing from a torn ACL that ended his 2024 season in Week 18. He returned to practice on Oct. 6, which makes his 21-day window set to expire on Oct. 27. If Watson plays, he’s expected to be on a snap count.

The 26-year-old has provided big-play ability for Green Bay’s offense since being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Over the past few years, he has recorded 98 catches for 1,653 yards (16.9 yards per catch) and 14 touchdowns. He has also done some damage on the ground, with 15 rushes for 114 yards and two more scores.
