Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato and Harris County (Texas) Judge Lina Hidalgo have made a friendly wager ahead of Monday night’s Steelers-Texans AFC Wild Card game.
If the Steelers win, Hidalgo will have to wear Steelers merch. But if the Texans win, Hidalgo will send Innamorato Houston gear to wear.
“It’s my town against yours. I know we’re going to win. So, I was wondering if you’d be brave enough for a bet?” Hidalgo asked Innamorato in an video posted on Instagram.
“Brave! Innamorato responded. “Judge, we’re playing in Pittsburgh. We do not need luck when we have the Steel Curtain. You want to make things a little interesting?”
“Yes, if we lose, which we will not, I’ll send you the world’s best NASA jacket,” Hidalgo replied. “And here’s a tough one. I will wear Steelers merch at our governing body meeting. But I know we’re going to win, so go Texans!”
The Steelers will play the Texans at Acrisure Stadium on Monday night. The playoff game is expected to provide an economic boost to the Pittsburgh region. According to VisitPittsburgh, the Steelers-Texans game will generate about $61 million in economic impact.
“We’re excited to welcome the Texans to a rowdy Acrisure Stadium on Monday night,” Innamorato said, via CW39 Houston. “As you undoubtedly saw when we defeated the Ravens, the Steel Curtain is ready for anything the Texans throw at us. I’m confident Judge Hidalgo will enjoy wearing some black and gold in the near future.”
The Steelers are currently 3-point underdogs for their Wild Card matchup against the Texans, according to odds posted by DraftKings Sportsbook. Pittsburgh has a +138 money line, while Houston’s is -164. The over/under total for the game is 38.5 points.
The Texans are one of the hottest teams in the league right now, winning their last nine straight games. Pittsburgh’s offense will also have its hands full as Houston boasts the best defense in the NFL in total yards allowed.
