OT Taylor Moton will miss time due to blood clots, CB Jaycee Horn joins him on NFI list for the Panthers

This afternoon, we found out OT Taylor Moton will likely miss time due to being diagnosed and treated due to blood clots in his lungs.

Reportedly, Taylor Moton was diagnosed in June and is currently receiving treatment. He will likely miss the early part of the season as he’s placed on the NFI list. This news isn’t great for a Panthers squad that will already be missing OT Ikem Ekwonu for likely at least the first half of the season, if not more. The development now means Rasheed Walker, whom the Panthers signed to a one year deal in free agency, will likely be manning the left tackle spot, where 1st round pick from this past draft Monroe Freeling will take on duties as the starting right tackle very early. Freeling was expected to compete with Walker for the left tackle spot, his more natural position. However, with two good offensive tackles on the shelf, Freeling’s timetable to be playing has moved up one way or the other. The Panthers also signed OL Brady Christensen this past week to a one year deal, and he has experience at basically every position along the offensive line, including a few starts at right tackle. He could very well be tasked with starting if Freeling isn’t ready right away, though his timetable is also up in the air due to recovering from a torn Achilles mid way through 2025.

The Panthers also announced CB Jaycee Horn will be joining him on said NFI list, though the current speculation is he will be ready for the start of the season.
