The Chicago Bears made it through the offseason program without any big controversies, which is something a few other franchises can’t say. Sure, there was the Caleb Williams book thing that popped up, but he addressed it, and now it’s faded into the background. No veteran holdouts or trade demands. No players were arrested or ticketed.
There were no serious injuries, although the Luther Burden soft tissue issue has caused some concern among some. However, he wasn’t hobbled when he threw out the first pitch at the White Sox game. Burden and his fellow second-round picks remain unsigned, but that’s the state of the league right now, so let’s give it a few weeks.
The rehabbing Bears continue to do so, and there have been no reports of setbacks, so the Bears should be close to full strength in a month when training camp opens.
All in all, the Bears are in a good place as a franchise, and the vibes surrounding head coach Ben Johnson continue to be positive.
Earlier this week, we asked you to let us know how you’re feeling, and 61% of you are even more confident in this team than you were earlier this year.
I’m sure we have some of the cautiously optimistic and tempered expectations crowd mixed in with the 36%, but that group also has some fans who have maintained their confidence in the team following the Johnson hire.
This is the most confident I can remember fans being in the Bears since they were heading into their 100th anniversary season of 2019. The year prior to that, they were 12-4, so the high optimism was warranted, but this time our hopes are squarely placed on the Johnson/Williams duo.
