Which Detroit Lions player are you most excited to see play again in 2025?

It’s never too early to start thinking about next season.

With the Detroit Lions’ 2024 season coming to an abrupt and disappointing end, I’m ready to put it behind me and look forward to what should be another thrilling season in 2025. The Lions are not set to lose much talent in free agency, they’ve got ample cap space to sign, re-sign, and extend players, and they’ve got a decent amount of draft capital, too. In other words, this team is set to have just as much talent as they did this year—if not more.

So the 2025 Lions season could very well be the year.

But before we start preparing our trips to San Francisco, let’s just imagine what the season may look like, and that starts with some stellar performances. Today’s Question of the Day is:

Which Lions player are you most excited to watch in 2025?

My answer: To me, there are two players—one on each side of the ball—who I can’t wait to watch play again.

On the offense, it’s got to be Jahmyr Gibbs. The way he finished the season was spectacular, making a strong case for best running back in football. Including the playoffs, Gibbs rushed for 100 yards or more in four straight games, and averaged 6.0 yards per carry over that span. If you include receiving yards, Gibbs had at least 75 scrimmage yards in 16 of 18 games this season. The only two games he didn’t reach that total? Week 1 vs. the Rams in which he had 74 yards and Week 14 against the Packers in which he had 73 yards. In 2025, he has a chance to get a bigger piece of the pie, and that means a 2,000-scrimmage yard season is very possible, if not likely.

On defense, we’ve all missed watching Aidan Hutchinson absolutely destroy right tackle after right tackle. This team has been devoid of that game-changing pass rusher for so long, and Hutchinson was on his way to becoming the Defensive Player of the Year before we were all robbed of it with his brutal leg break. He’s expected to be fully ready for offseason activities, so I can’t wait to see him terrorize opposing offenses and be the defensive game-wrecker that the Lions so desperately needed this year.
